One man is missing – another has been rescued – after their canoe flipped last night in waters off Oak Bay.
The Coast Guard’s Troy Haddock says residents of 10 Mile Point called 911 just before 11:00 p.m. after hearing the survivor’s cry for help.
“We located a single male on a rock near Willows Beach. Basically he’d been in the water for some time, about an hour and a half. He came from a canoe that had capsized earlier in the evening.”
The two had been paddling to the nearby Chatham Islands to go camping.
