Car crash into Vancouver light pole kills 26-year-old passenger

Vancouver police are investigating after a car crashed into a light pole early this morning, killing a passenger.

Police say the car was heading south on Cambie from 33rd Avenue when it veered off the road and hit the pole around 12:30 a.m.

A 26-year-old woman in the passenger seat was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her name has not been released because her family hasn’t been notified yet.

The driver, also 26, was taken to hospital with minor injuries and is co-operating with police.

Officers say speed may have been a factor.
