Delta at odds with Translink over park-and-ride lots

The Corporation of Delta is in a battle with Translink over pay parking.

Translink wants to charge drivers to use park-and-ride lots in Tsawwassen and Ladner, but Mayor Lois Jackson says that’s not fair.

“I don’t think it’s fair that we should be asking our people to pay when they’ve already donated the land.”

Plus, she says Delta is under-served by Translink.

“Bus service is very poor, so why would we have anybody charge them additional?”

The transportation authority operates 13 park-and-rides in Metro Vancouver.

Staff hope to raise $ 2.2 million by charging at the free lots and raising the prices at some of the existing pay lots.
