Disgraced Mountie coming to a detachment near you?

A Mountie reprimanded, demoted and fined for “disgraceful conduct” in Edmonton that included having sex with subordinates, exposing himself to a co-worker and drinking on the job is coming to work in BC but will be “closely monitored” according to the RCMP.

The RCMP say Staff Sergeant Don Ray will not be part of any provincial or municipal policing contract. Rather they say, he’ll be working in a federal policing capacity.

The force also says senior managers are aware of the behaviour that led to Ray’s discipline and will be monitoring him closely to ensure the disciplinary measures are having the desired effect and that the offending behaviour doesn’t happen again.

RCMP leaders are defending a decision not to fire Ray.

A report by an Internal Disciplinary Board says Ray deserved a break because of his long years of service and support from other Mounties.
