Donations flood in after North Shore dog rescue

Donations have come in fast and furious to cover the weekend rescue of a dog from the North Shore mountains.

Now rescuers say they have more than enough.

North Shore Search and Rescue’s Tim Jones says while some people were quick to give support and donations, others questioned why rescuers even bothered saving the dog stuck in an area called “Suicide Gulley”.

“That dog was going nowhere and I can tell you that if anyone got near that area that was not equipped would have fallen to their death – this was a public safety issue”

Jones says their biggest fear was that someone was going to take it upon themself to try and save the dog.
