Family of man believed to have shot, killed two people offers statement

The family of Angus David Mitchell, the now-dead man suspected in three shootings – two of which were fatal – has released a statement through the Vancouver police.

The 26-year-old’s family says they wish to express “their extreme sorrow and heartfelt sympathies” to the families of Vivien Diem Huynh and Andy Tran – the two killed in last week’s shooting at a Burnaby sushi house.

The family calls their deaths senseless, saying they “cannot begin to describe the horror they felt” upon learning of Angus’s involvement.

Mitchell is also suspected of shooting his former landlord on Tuesday.

The next day, he was killed by authorities after a massive manhunt ended in Maple Ridge.
