The recent Federal cuts to public-sector jobs are starting to take shape in BC.
Bob Jackson, with the Public Safety Alliance of Canada, says 5-thousand Federal public workers, 200 in BC, have been told their jobs are in jeopardy.
He says they’ve gotten a letter saying their particular job is affected, which could mean they lose it, get a different one, or don’t get their contract renewed.
Jackson adds he’s worried about how jobs are being picked to be cut, “We’re hearing in some departments, where the people that are making the decisions don’t really have an idea of what’s going on out in the field or on the ground and that’s a real concern.”
He says the departments in BC include Veterans Affairs, Citizenship and Immigration, National Defence and Health.
