The last debate in the federal NDP leadership race took place in Vancouver this afternoon.
All seven candidates fielded questions — and were able to fire questions at each other.
Many hopefuls tossed hardballs at the perceived frontrunner, Thomas Mulcair — something the Quebec MP sees as a good thing.
“We’ve been taking it as a fairly positive sign when we get that many questions – that people are coming after us because they figure that our campaign is doing well. That’s the impression we have as well.”
MP Peggy Nash sees herself as a threat.
“I mean, I think the way this is shaping up is that it’s going to be Tom and I on the last ballot. I think that’s what we’re looking at and my goal today was to clearly differentiate myself from Tom.”
The new leader will be chosen at the NDP convention in Toronto.
