90 households in northern Penticton have been ordered evacuated, as officials warn of a possible flash flood.
Residents west of Chute Lake have been ordered to leave their homes, as officials cite an “immediate danger to life and safety.”
Dale Kronebusch is with the Okanagan-Similkameen Regional District.
He says a large debris flow threatens to possibly rush down from the lake.
“We’re doing an evucation of people below the lake. We’ve got engineers onsite that are going to try and repair or mitigate the problem up on top to make it safe so we can allow people to return.”
Other areas nearby, such as Tulameen, have been plagued by high floodwaters.
Tulameen is still under a voluntary evacuation alert, after heavy rains caused otter lake to flood.
