Former Premier’s chief of staff sticking to criticisms of current administration

A member of former Premier Gordon Campbell’s inner circle isn’t backing down from his criticism of BC’s current premier.

“It’s the politics of division that doesn’t serve the public interest.”

Martyn Brown, Campbell’s former chief of staff, has written a $ 6 e-book claiming Christy Clark would need a miracle to keep her job.

“I believe what voters are looking for is a new type of political dialogue. You don’t get there if you’re actually berating people in partisan terms and demeaning their parties and the values that they stand for.”

Brown says it is the NDP’s election to lose.

Bill Good “do you think there’s anything that Ms. Clark can do to right the ship and at least be very competitive going into a spring election?”

Brown “Fundamentally, as I say in the book, I think it starts with a recognition of what voters want to change. That means acting differently as a government. One way voters would respect would be embracing the first standard of political conduct.”

Brown also says the thing widely blamed for Campbell’s downfall wasn’t the only reason the BC Liberals reign in this province is destined to end in May.

“It wasn’t just the HST. I think what the HST did was crystalize the way people felt in many respects about the BC Liberal government. What is it about us that caused that to happen? It certainly wasn’t just the HST. That was a huge part of it, but it wasn’t the only part.”

Clark fired Brown shortly after winning the BC Liberal leadership.

She claims she hasn’t read his book and doesn’t have plans to buy it.

The full interview with Brown can be heard on the Bill Good show Thursday morning.
