Transit police say it’s not a so-called “dyed in the wool policy” but they do confirm it’s an “expectation” that their officers write eight violation tickets a day.
Nearly 24 hours after we placed calls to transit police the acting deputy chief for operations Brian MacDonald has called back to say officers are expected to issue eight tickets a day…
“It’s not a specific dyed in the wool policy what we had is a guideline or an expectation of what we expect our people to be achieving.”
And what happens if an officer doesn’t fulfill that requirement?
“Well then it becomes uh, we have to sit down and look at that officer’s performance and then it could become a labor issue.”
The irony of the whole situation is that the tickets aren’t enforced.
