APD arrest syringe robber

A 35-year-old woman has been charged with robbery after allegedy stealing cash from a store in Abbotsford with a syringe. On Nov. 17 at 2 p.m., a woman entered a store in the 2600 block of Montrose Street and demanded cash from the owner. She was later found in a near by taxi with a small amount of money and was taken into custody by Abbotsford Police.

Teenager hit with machete after argument

A teenage boy was taken to hospital on Sunday after being struck on the hand with a machete during a dispute. Two teens, a 16 year old and 17 year old, were disputing a repair to an off road vehicle in the 5000 block of Lefeuvre Road in Abbotsford, when they got into a fight resulting in the 16 year old striking the other teen on the hand with a machete. The young man faces charges of assault with a weapon.

Border jumpers caught by Abbotsford police

Two men were apprehended after attempting to illegally cross the border into Canada, Sunday. Abbotsford police were notified by U.S. Border Patrol of two men, 24 and 35 years of age ,who made their way over the Canadian border. APD patrols later located the pair near a residence in the 29000 block of 0 Avenue. The men were of South Asian decent and spoke limited English. Both were held by APD for the Canadian Border Services Agency.

2,500 marijuana plants found in grow-op

Agassiz RCMP seized 2,500 marijuana plants and approximately $ 300,000 worth of equipment in a grow-op bust in the Upper Fraser Valley, Thursday. RCMP executed a search warrant in the 5700 block of Loughneed Highway and found a barn containing two large generators and an industrial-sized air conditioner. Investigators estimate the operation was worth approximately $ 575,000. A male was arrested on site and could potentially face charges of production of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
