Two of the Province’s medical labs could be merging after Life Labs made an offer to buyout BC Biomedical.
Managing Director of BC Biomedical Doug Buchanan says the purchase is subject to various regulatory approvals, but the deal could go through by this spring.
“Together the two organizations have an ability to position with government, and make an arrangement with government to provide an outstanding service to patients and one that can actually improve over time in terms of both patient care and patient access.”
Buchanan says at this time there’s no plan to layoff employees, and those working at BC Biomedical are optimistic about the change.
As for patients, Buchanan adds business will be carrying on as usual.
