The City of North Vancouver has signed the new RCMP contract but officials say they aren’t happy about the process.
Mayor Darrell Mussatto says they put pen to paper only because there is a two-year opt out clause.
“I think it is fair to say we are a little frustrated working with the provincial government, working with the RCMP. The RCMP has been great, but the provincial government – it’s been a difficult journey for us but we are here now and we will make the best of it.”
Mussatto says they will look at their options, including sharing West Vancouver police.
He says the city and district are serious about the possibility.
“But it has to work for all three of us, so it has to work in that regard.”
The only municipality yet to say whether it will ratify is Squamish, and its mayor remains silent.
