Parents frustrated with teachers’ plans this week ahead of legislated deal

As teachers plan a so-called day of action Monday in the wake of government announcing legislating a new contract, some parents are starting to show frustration.

“Teachers don’t take into account what the parents have to go through.”

Maple Ridge father Alan Richards started a Facebook page protesting the teachers’ job action of not writing report cards.

“The teachers have a very, I would say, pretty militant attitude towards what they’ve done so far, and again, I say anytime you say anything that seems contrary to what the teachers say or feel, you’re said to be bashing teachers.”

The union is calling for teachers to meet at lunchtime on Monday to discuss a fact finder’s report into their negotiations and discuss further action. Demonstrations outside of classroom time are also planned.

A vote on a full-scale walkout is set for later in the week.
