Translink has started public consultations into the new Pattullo Bridge project.
While the first meeting in New Westminster was packed with people, not all of their questions could be answered.
The meeting was split between an open forum and small break-away groups.
Among the feedback Translink is looking for, according to Sany Zein, its Director of Roads, is how the new bridge will connect to the existing roads, and where exactly, it will be located, “It was built for a 50-year service life, it’s now been there for 75 years, it’s time for a new bridge.”
But some at the meeting had other concerns, like the possibility of tolling, “People aren’t here for that, they want to know how’s it going to affect me, in my neighbourhood. I understood that they’re here just to present it, but, you know.”
Three more meetings will be held over the course of the week.
