Premier won’t meet with Musqueam

A day after protestors snarled traffic from Richmond to Vancouver for more than two hours, Premier Christy Clark is rejecting their demand for a meeting.

Clark says concerns raised by members of the Musqueam First Nation about a housing development at the site of a four thousand year old burial ground in the marpole area should be addressed by the City of Vancouver.

“It’s not a provincial issue. It’s not crown land. So, we have a mediator there, we’re trying to assist in helping the city find a resolution, but this is city land with a private developer”

Construction of the 40 million dollar project has been halted even though more than half of the 108 units have already been sold.
