The B.C. government spent more than $ 250,000 on negotiations for the naming rights to BC Place.
That was revealed by Liberal Jobs Minister Pat Bell, in a letter to his NDP counterpart.
Spencer Chandra-Herbert says it’s not so much the figure that troubles him as much as the government’s inability to agree to a naming deal.
“The liberals were clearly serious enough to spend a quarter of a million dollars, but when push came to shove, they decided well, we’ll choose zero dollars over 40 million dollars, which is what Telus was offering. It just shows to me they can’t make up their mind, they’re inconsistent, and they’re bad managers.”
The proposed naming deal fell through in March with the government suggesting Vancouverites were too attached to the stadium’s non-corporate name.
