Questions about Clark-Atwal persist

Premier Christy Clark says she doesn’t know Jaspal Atwal, and despite the online rumours, Clark’s office says the convicted gunman was not involved in her liberal leadership bid.

But that has some members of BC’s Indo Canadian community confused.

Radio India host Gurpreet Singh says it was covered heavily in south asian media that Atwal was a prominent Clark supporter, spotted at numerous events supporting her leadership bid.

“……So right now, when Christy Clark is saying I don’t know this guy, everyone is really surprised as to why she’s saying that.”

Singh says its unclear whether Clark actually knew him.

Atwal was convicted in the 1986 murder attempt of an Indian cabinet minister.

Yesterday, a BC Liberal staffer resigned for bringing him to last week’s budget speech.
