R-I-P “Cargo” the police dog

Chilliwack RCMP dog “Cargo” has died after six years of service.

Cargo was out for a run with his handler Constable Michael Jordan on Monday, when the officer noticed cargo had no energy and appeared to be in some difficulty.

Cargo was rushed to the vet, and the vet found Cargo had stomach cancer.

The resume is pretty impressive: Cargo worked the 2010 Olympics, the G-8/G20 summit, served as a guard for Prime Minister Harper, was an explosives specialist, and was the star service dog of the RCMP recruiting commercial seen at movie theatres across the country, prior to the trailers.

Also in BC, Cargo worked on the EnCana pipeline bombings in Dawson Creek.
