Residents South of Fraser River still waiting for transit expansion

While the City of Vancouver pushes for a rapid transit line down Broadway, people south of the Fraser continue to wait for transit expansion.

Langley City Mayor Peter Fassbender says it is not a matter of Broadway rapid transit versus south of the Fraser expansion.

Although Fassbender also admits people who live south of the Fraser are getting impatient with transit service.

“Well I think they are putting a lot of pressure on and so are we but you know I will say for the first time in twenty-six years we have a rapid bus coming across the Port Mann Bridge so that is an indication that when we work hard we can achieve results. We have got a lot more work to do.”

Fassbender says transit expansion no matter where it is hinges on one thing, funding, and right now he says that is an issue waiting for a solution.
