Retired female mountie weighs in on transfer of Don Ray

What does it take to be fired from the RCMP?

A retired female mountie says perhaps we should ask the Federal Government.

Sergeant Don Ray is on his way to BC, after being found guilty of dishonourable conduct, including having sex with subordinates, while in Alberta.

Retired RCMP officer Jane Hall says it appears BC’s top brass don’t have the ability to dismiss him after public outcry — because they have to ask Ottawa for permission.

As for why Ray is being transferred here?

“Maybe E Division is a good testing ground to see what the future of the force is going to look like when it deals with these types of issues.”

Hall says the only way the force’s culture can be improved is for controversial incidents such as this to be exposed in the media.
