Richmond duplex destroyed by early morning fire

A two-storey duplex under construction in Richmond is destroyed, two other buildings are damaged, and seven people are out of those buildings after a fire early Sunday morning.

Fire Chief John McGowan says the duplex at Francis and No. 2 Road, was fully involved when crews arrived around 1:45.

The fire reached two buildings adjacent to the duplex.

“The people that were living in the other two buildings were all evacuated safely.  They are being housed in Richmond through family and friends.  There’s no injuries at the fire incident.”

It’s not yet known if the fire is suspicious.
