Senior care provider working to halt spread of Norovirus

In addition to trying to keep this year’s nasty flu from spreading, an organization responsible for more than ten thousand seniors across BC is also working to contain numerous Norovirus outbreaks.

Mary McDougall, the President of the BC Seniors Care Providers, says safety protocols are in place, but that’s not enough.

“It appears that this year it is highly contagious. The speed at which we’re seeing when a virus does enter a facility and how quickly it is spreading, this is a special year. We are certainly conscious of how much exposure people are facing.”

McDougall is also pleading with family and friends visiting BC care facilities to behave as if they’ve already been infected.
