Some gift card advice from the Better Business Bureau

For those planning to give gift cards as presents, a few words of warning.

BC has laws preventing most gift cards from expiring, but Mark fernandes of the Better Business Bureau says there are other things to keep in mind.

“Look for signs if the company is appearing to go out of business.  Because you don’t want to buy a gift card, get a good deal, and then find out later on you can’t purchase any products and you have a card that’s worthless.”

And Fernandes says people should also keep in mind expiry dates do apply to things like pre-paid credit cards, mall cards or gift certificates for specific services.
