VANCOUVER – Teck Resources Limited (Teck: TSX) said Thursday that it has received a strike notice for its Highland Valley Copper Operations from the United Steelworkers of America Local 7619.
The notice entitles the union to begin strike action on Oct. 2 at the earliest.
The company said negotiations are continuing and the current agreement expires Friday.
The Highland Valley Copper mine is the largest copper mine in Canada and is southwest of Kamloops, B.C.
