The leader of the BC Conservatives party is emphasizing the ‘new’ in new year as he says his party has put an internal dispute behind them.
Leader John Cummins says the messy internal dispute was a just test, one that the party not only met but came out stronger for.
Cummins says going into the May election it isn’t his party carrying any baggage it is the BC Liberals.
“The budget that will be coming up in February is certainly one of those and there expectation is that they are going to balance the books. I simply don’t know how they are going to do that unless it involves a firesale sell off of government assets. So there is some huge challenges there, some credibility issues I think and those are the kinds of challenges we don’t have to face.”
Cummins says he disagrees with pundits who predict his party has been reduced to playing spoiler after an internal revolt against his leadership.
“If there is a spoiler in this election it is the Liberals who are well past the best before date and I think that, that is the real issue here. The Liberals have….do not have any credibility they do not have any believability that is the problem, that is the challenge that they face and I just don’t think that it is possible for them to turn that around.”
The BC Tories also have a new slogan, “We believe in BC.”
Cummins is also kicking off the new year with a new Twitter account – @electjohn.
But a fake account quickly sprung up – @ejectjohn.
