Education Minister George Abbott appears to be softening his stance on the contract dispute with BC teachers.
Abbott now says mediation may be a possibility, although the government will not move off its net-zero wage mandate.
He also suggests legislation this week may lead to a cooling off period rather than an imposed contract.
Abbott said “you know I don’t ever think of these things as saving face, I think that what we want to do is hopefully establish a kind of bargaining relationship here where we can have a mature and respectful and constructive dialogue on how we meet this.”
Abbott says a bill could come down as soon as Tuesday.
