Thousands of chickens die in Abbotsford fire

More than 15,000 chickens have been killed in a commercial barn fire in Abbotsford.
Deputy Fire Chief Dale Unrau says the blaze broke out in a barn on a property in the 4100 block of Ross Road.
Crews then tried to stop the flames from spreading to other structures.

“We’ve set up ventilation in those barns in order to keep air moving, in order to keep the remaining chickens in the others barns all healthy.”

Unrau says a farm-hand first reported the blaze – and the fire doesn’t appear to be suspicious.
