Rail safety week is getting off to a bad start in British Columbia, thanks to the derailment of a CP coal train east of Salmon Arm.
Ten cars went off the tracks around 5:30 this morning near Canoe.
No one was hurt, but the cause is under investigation.
The incident comes as CN rail re-launches “operation lifesaver” a year-round campaign warning pedestrians and drivers to stay off the tracks.
Last year, close to 240 collisions killed 70 people and injured 42.
Numbers from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada show that’s an increase of almost 11% from 2010.
