Two dead, four injured, as flames tear through Vancouver Island home

Two youngsters have died as flames swept through a home on the Nanoose First Nation, north of Nanaimo.

Const. Garry O’Brien confirms the seven and 10-year-old children died when the blaze broke out shortly after 5 a.m.

He says the house in Lantzville, about 17 kilometres north of Nanaimo, was fully engulfed within minutes,

Two adults and two other children managed to escape and are now being treated for smoke inhalation in hospital.

Names have not been released.

A cause of the fire is under investigation.
