Two men sought in sex attack

Abbotsford police are looking for two “heinous” men who allegedly sexually assaulted a 19-year-old woman after forcing her into their vehicle.

Police said the woman was walking near Pauline and Laurel streets last Thursday at 7 p.m. when she noticed a white pickup truck passing her several times. The passenger of the truck then allegedly pushed the woman into the vehicle and drove to a nearby parking lot where both men sexually assaulted her.

“It’s quite possible they might have been prowling in the area, searching the area for a period of time before they came upon her,” said APD spokesman Const. Ian MacDonald.

The victim contacted police Friday and gave excellent physical descriptions of both suspects despite being traumatized from the incident, said MacDonald.

Police released sketches of two South Asian men in their late 20s. The driver is described as five feet, 10 inches tall and clean-shaven with short black hair. The passenger is said to be six feet tall with short dark hair and a full beard.

“There’s nothing short of this being classified as an act of courage for this young woman to, first of all, muster the strength to get herself home. And then to have the courage to seek out help is remarkable,” MacDonald said.

Police have received several tips and are canvassing the area for witnesses and video surveillance from local businesses.

“We’re motivated by her strength and we’re equally motivated to get these heinous men off the street,” he said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
