Unanswered questions over two appeals of the recent Tsawwassen First Nation election results

There are still a lot of unanswered questions over two appeals of the recent Tsawwassen First Nation election results.

TFN Chief Adminstrative officer Doug Raines says he still can’t reveal who is behind the two seperate challenges.

“At this time we have kept that, because of the procedures the judicial council has put in to place, confidential. I am trying to get a reading from them now on what is public and what isn’t once I have that from the judicial council I will be able to share that.”

However Raines says the judicial council will hear the applications soon.

“They are scheduling a hearing for later this month and then they would reserve their decision and then we would wait for that outcome.”

The September fifth election saw 23 year old Bryce Williams beat long time Chief Kim Baird by nine votes.

Among the potential decisions by the judicial council is the ability to overturn the election results.
