Vancouver’s extreme heat response plan ready for another year

The City of Vancouver’s ready to roll out it’s extreme heat response plan should a heat advisory be issued by health authorities.
The plan includes having water available in various locations across the city as well as opening cooling shelters.
Deputy City Manager Sadhu Johnston says all the agencies invovled are prepared…

“We have had a couple of conference calls with all of the appropriate agencies to ensure that we’re all ready and coordinated in case they do call a heat advisory that we are prepared from the city the park board the libraries and our other organizations to ensure that we’re doing what we need to do.”

The extreme heat response plan was introduced after Curtis Brick, a homeless man, died of heat exhaustion in grandview park three years ago.
