While City of Vancouver staff investigate adding a new link to the seawall between Kitsilano beach and Spanish Banks, concerns have been raised about who’s going to help pay for it.
An anonymous donor has offered up millions of dollars, but NPA Councillor George Affleck says he has concerns.
“Bare minimum…what I’m asking for is that in-camera we’re provided with who these people are or companies or whatever, so that we can make a decision as a council as a whole.”
Vision Vancouver’s Heather Deal says the donor’s wish to stay out of the limelight is nothing new.
“In-camera, we can request that information and you might want to ask Councillor Affleck if he did in fact request that information. This particular anonymous donor is coming forward on the Point Grey Point but again it complies with existing policy.”
Staff have been asked to report back on costs and implications at a later date.
