Woman killed in Agassiz hang-gliding accident

A woman’s been killed in a hang-gliding accident near Agassiz.
She had been riding with a guide off Mount Woodside, shortly after noon Saturday, when something went wrong.
She detached from the guide — falling more than 300 metres to the ground.
Jason Warner with the Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association, says the trip had been an anniversary gift from the woman’s boyfriend.

“The pilot and the victim’s boyfriend have talked. Earlier on during the day, and the pilot really didn’t know what to say, but he just had to say something… and they talked for about 10 minutes, a lot of tears and a lot of hugging, so.”

It took several hours for more than 20 search and rescues to recover the body.
