Worker fired for snooping on medical records of media folks

Vancouver Coastal Health has fired an employee for breaching the privacy of five local media personalities.

That worker had been snooping around on their electronic health records.

It was discovered during a routine audit of patient file access.

The now-fired employee seemed to have a personal interest in the media types and didn’t share the information verbally or in writing with anyone else.

Coastal Health President and C-E-O Dr. David Ostrow apologizes for the violation of trust, and says the breach is “extremely disappointing”.
