A body has been pulled from the Fraser near the Abbotsford Mission bridge.

The RCMP have pulled a body from the Fraser river near the Abbotsford Mission bridge.

Sergeant Miriam Dickson says the body was spotted in the river just after two this afternoon.

She said “And they spotted what they believe to be a body just East of the Mission bridge so the Mission RCMP attended to the wharf there and with the assistance of two Abbotsford residents took a boat out to the body and pulled it from the river.”

Dickson says at this point they have no i-d “We don’t have very many details on the body at this time we do know it is a middle aged woman….a caucasian woman.”

She says it is also too early to say if foul play is a factor in the death, or not “Well we are still early in the investigation of course. the body has been transported to where the Coroner and the RCMP can examine it further.”

Dickson says the body does not appear to have been in the river for very long.
