A Township of Langley Councillor is fed up and wants out of Metro Vancouver.

A Township of Langley councillor has had enough of Metro Vancouver and will table a motion to expidite leaving the regional district.

Kim Richter says her motion will mean the Township will “..explore the option, or that we support the option of creating a South Fraser Regional District and that we initiate discussions with the other municipalities who are South of the Fraser as to whether they would be interested and willing to participate as well.”

Richter says those districts might include Abbotsford, Surrey, Delta, White Rock, the City of Langley, and maybe even Richmond.

Richter says residents in the Township have had enough and are tired of footing the bill for services benefitting others in the region.

She said “Absolutely, I hear regularily from members of the Township that are fed up with always being the low person on the totem pole which is exactly what is happening to us.”

Ss for when the motion will be tabled, she said “Well I am going to put the motion on for our first meeting in May so that will be the, I believe it is the May 2nd meeting, I don’t know it will take five votes of council to support the motion and if it goes through then we can begin discussions.”
