Donald Hay is dead.
Hay kidnapped and raped a 12 year old girl, holding Abby Drover against her will for 181 days in the underground dungeon at his Port Moody home in 1976.
Hay’s wife eventually called police, fearing Hay had killed himself behind that locked door.
Police found hay crawling out of a hidden entrance to the underground bunker, Drover, following behind.
Sometimes Hay refused to feed the young girl.
She weighed 87 pounds when she was rescued.
Donald Hay was 79 years old.
He died of natural causes at the Regional Psychiatric Centre in Saskatoon on Sunday.
