A Vancouver City Councillor says Metro Vancouver handles a lot of taxpayer money, so it should be more transparent.
George Affleck says he plans to table a motion at Council next week that could see Metro’s Board meetings broadcast on TV or the internet, “The Metro Vancouver Board represent one of the biggest municipal budgets next to Vancouver. They have over 600-million-dollars that they handle, on sewage and water and other things. So, I think it’s really important that we have transparency.”
Affleck says he often hears at Council meetings that increases come in Vancouver because, “it’s Metro’s fault,” so residents should be able to see why.
His motion would ask the five Vancouver Councillors appointed to the Board to put in his request.
