Driver of Cash Cab taxi won’t face charge in pedestrian death

No criminal charges are being pursued against the driver of a replica taxi that struck and killed a man last summer in Vancouver’s Gastown district.

Investigators have determined there was no criminal intent when the vehicle being used in a production of the Discovery Channel’s  Cash Cab struck the 61-year-old victim.

It happened in the 200-block of East Cordova Street last July.

Vancouver police say the driver – who’s never been named – is still facing a driving without due care charge under the Motor Vehicle Act, which will likely result in a fine.

The victim’s name has also been withheld at the request of his family. He was from Surrey.
