Group wants animals returned from Burnaby pound

Animal Rescue Society has sent an open letter to Burnaby Mayor Derrick Corrigan begging he and the Burnaby Council, for the safe release of 66 dogs and cats they claim were illegally seized by the BC-SPCA on June 13th.

The seizures were part of the SPCA’s mandate as pound-keeper for the Municipality of Burnaby.

The group claims these are all special needs animals; some are blind, some are missing legs.

Sandra Simons, President of One-at-a-time Rescue Society says her group has rescued them from horrendous cruelty and nursed them back to health. She believes these animals don’t have much chance for survival in the Burnaby Pound.
