Hiker rescued after staying out overnight behind Grouse Mountain

North shore rescue has airlifted another hiker to safety.

The man ran into trouble on the Hanes Valley trial, behind Grouse Mountain.

Search manager Tim Jones says he was not well prepared for the trek.

“He had jeans, he had a light jacket and he had sort of semi-hikers on.  He had some preparedness: he had matches, he had some food… But not very well-equipped.”

Jones says the man, who was unhurt, simply couldn’t handle the winter conditions that still exist on the trail.

He was rescued about 8 a.m. – a full day after beginning his hike.
