Injured paraglider spends night atop mountain

A paraglider who crashed on Mt. Cheam near Chilliwack last night is in the process of being rescued by a Cormorant helicopter.

The man had to spend a night on the mountain after crashing 900 metres up, injuring a leg and his head.

A military helicopter sent to rescue him last night broke down, but another chopper is in the process of picking him up.

“The Cormorant helicopter should be conducting the hoist to bring the patient on board right now and the two search and rescue technicians and the plan then is to proceed to Abbotsford,” says Captain Justin Olsen.

The man will then be sent to a critical care paramedic team before heading to Vancouver.
