Latest from Missing Women Inquiry

The latest witness at the missing women inquiry has confirmed Robert Pickton was the main topic during an august, 1999 meeting between Vancouver police and Coquitlam RCMP.

That was almost three years before the serial killer was finally caught, in February of 2002.

Retired Vancouver police sergeant Geremy Powell, formerly known as Geremy field, choked up while being cross-examined by Cameron Ward, the lawyer for the families of 25 victims.

“Pickton was not our only suspect. He was the only suspect ten of you met to discuss this day? Yes. Right? I wish that it had turned out differently. Believe me. From a personal point of view, I’ve lived with this and the failure of this to go forward since that summer.”

Powell says, that same year, she and detective constable Lori Shenher pleaded for more resources to investigate Pickton and other suspects, but those requests were denied by senior VPD officers.
