A local MP has his hands full, after hearing dozens of people express their anger and confusion over the closure of the Kitsilano Coast Guard Base.
Fin Donelly hosted a town hall with other politicians and marine rescue experts to hear the public’s concerns and questions.
They wanted to know how volunteers are supposed to fill in the gaps?
How a hovercraft is expected to take the place of professional rescue crews?
And, how the Government can guarantee their safety on the water?
“We’re out here consulting on the coast. And we think that’s what the Government should be doing in order to make good decisions.”
Donnelly says he’s taking all the feedback, plus a petition, back to present in the House of Commons. He believes this could persuade the Government to keep the base open.
