Coast Guard volunteers died after boat capsizes off Sechelt Inlet

Two Coast Guard volunteers have died after their boat capsized off the Sunshine Coast.

Officials with the Joint Rescue Communications Centre say a zodiac carrying four people flipped in the Skookumchuck Narrows at Sechelt Inlet.

The men on board were rescued right away, but the women, members of the Coast Guard auxiliary, were found under the hull, and pronounced dead.

Officials add the waters carrying the rigid-hulled inflatable had been in a strong current.
