Mayor Corrigan claims there was no consultation by Feds

The Mayor of Burnaby is laughing off claims by Heritage Minister James Moore that recent marine service cuts were done with broad consultation.

Derek Corrigan says the Federal Government is out of touch with the Lower Mainland.

When asked if his community was consulted, “No, of course not, they certainly haven’t been looking at us to be part of the discussions, even when it comes to the big applications like the Kinder Morgan application. The Federal Government isn’t out consulting with us about the response in our community or the concerns that might be expressed in our community.”

Corrigan says the cuts to Coast Guard and Environment Emergency Response Teams are  especially concerning, as his community has the Chevron Oil Refinery on Burrard Inlet.
