Metro Vancouver’s board set to deal with Translink resolutions at meeting

Metro Vancouver is preparing for an interesting debate over Translink falling short on last years supplementary plan which was approved by the regional district.

Board chair Greg Moore says they want to see if Translink’s new base plan will impact the regional growth strategy.

“Well the report goes into talking a little bit about that but we really….our goal is just to highlight that there needs to be the discussion when services aren’t delivered that were in plan what are the effects and we need to work together to determine those.”

Greg Moore says the issue of Translink governance is rearing its head again.

“Part of Metro’s report tomorrow talks about governance needs to be reviewed and looked at you know it is really not a Translink issue to look at governance it is the provincial government that decides what the governance is.”

Moore says the province tried to put two mayors on the Translink board but the mayors council rejected the idea.

“We need to really start from scratch and look at other models and look for the best model that will suit us here.”

The Metro Vancouver Board will meet Friday night.
